The Mouse VCAM-1 vcam1 (Catalog #MBS355350) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MBS355350 ELISA Kit recognizes Mouse VCAM-1. MyBioSource\'s VCAM-1 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, Quantitative sELISA (EIA).For quantitative detection of VCAM-1 in mouse serum, plasma, body fluids, tissue lysates or cell culture supernatants. Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the VCAM-1 vcam1 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The VCAM-1 vcam1 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #6981700) (NCBI Accession #NP_037021.1) (Uniprot Accession #P29534). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Typical Testing Data/Standard Curve (for reference only)
Principle of the Assay: This kit was based on sandwich enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay technology. Anti-VCAM-1 polyclonal antibody was pre-coated onto 96-well plates. And the biotin conjugated anti-VCAM-1 polyclonal antibody was used as detection antibodies. The standards, test samples and biotin conjugated detection antibody were added to the wells subsequently, and wash with wash buffer. Avidin-Biotin-Peroxidase Complex was added and unbound conjugates were washed away with wash buffer. TMB substrates were used to visualize HRP enzymatic reaction. TMB was catalyzed by HRP to produce a blue color product that changed into yellow after adding acidic stop solution. The density of yellow is proportional to the VCAM-1 amount of sample captured in plate. Read the O.D. absorbance at 450nm in a microplate reader, and then the concentration of VCAM-1 can be calculated.
Background: Vascular cell adhesion protein 1 (VCAM-1), also known as cluster of differentiation 106 (CD106) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the VCAM1 gene. This gene contains 9 exons spanning about 25 kb, and It is expressed on both large and small blood vessels only after the endothelial cells are stimulated by cytokines. The VCAM-1 is a cell surface sialoglycoprotein, a type I membrane protein that is a member of the Ig superfamily. It mediates the adhesion of lymphocytes, monocytes, eosinophils, and basophils to vascular endothelium. It also functions in leukocyte-endothelial cell signal transduction, and it may play a role in the development of atherosclerosis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Assay Type: Sandwich
Detection Range: 156 pg/ml-10,000 pg/ml
Sensitivity: < 5pg/ml. VCAM-1 Mouse ELISA Kit or ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbant assays) Kits in general, are a valuable research tool for a myriad of applications in a range of scientific settings. Currently, three major types of ELISA formats are used by researchers: sandwich, competitive and indirect. Most commercially available ELISA Kits are sandwich or competitive. Commercially available ELISA Kits contain wells that have been pre-coated with the capture antibody. Please refer to the product manual for the ELISA format of your specific kit.
