The Chicken MHC n/a (Catalog #MBS756222) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MBS756222 ELISA Kit recognizes Chicken (Gallus, General) MHC.

The MHC n/a product has the following accession number(s) (GI #239937539) (NCBI Accession #NP_001155229.1). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Principle of the assay: MHC ELISA kit applies the competitive enzyme immunoassay technique utilizing a monoclonal anti-MHC antibody and an MHC-HRP conjugate. The assay sample and buffer are incubated together with MHC-HRP conjugate in pre-coated plate for one hour. After the incubation period, the wells are decanted and washed five times. The wells are then incubated with a substrate for HRP enzyme. The product of the enzyme-substrate reaction forms a blue colored complex. Finally, a stop solution is added to stop the reaction, which will then turn the solution yellow. The intensity of color is measured spectrophotometrically at 450nm in a microplate reader. The intensity of the color is inversely proportional to the MHC concentration since MHC from samples and MHC-HRP conjugate compete for the anti-MHC antibody binding site. Since the number of sites is limited, as more sites are occupied by MHC from the sample, fewer sites are left to bind MHC-HRP conjugate. A standard curve is plotted relating the intensity of the color (O.D.) to the concentration of standards. The MHC concentration in each sample is interpolated from this standard curve.

Samples: Serum, plasma, Cell Culture Supernatants, body fluid and tissue homogenate
Assay Type: Competitive
Sensitivity: 0.1 ng/mL. Chicken Myosin Heavy Chain ELISA Kit or ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbant assays) Kits in general, are a valuable research tool for a myriad of applications in a range of scientific settings. Currently, three major types of ELISA formats are used by researchers: sandwich, competitive and indirect. Most commercially available ELISA Kits are sandwich or competitive. Commercially available ELISA Kits contain wells that have been pre-coated with the capture antibody. Please refer to the product manual for the ELISA format of your specific kit.
