The Pig GFAP gfap (Catalog #MBS281228) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. The MBS281228 ELISA Kit recognizes Pig (Porcine, Swine, General) GFAP.

The GFAP gfap product has the following accession number(s) (GI #251802) (NCBI Accession #AAB22581.1). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Principle of the Assay: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate GFAP in samples. An antibody specific for GFAP has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and anyGFAP present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for GFAP is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of GFAP bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.

Detection Wavelength: 450 nm. Pig Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) ELISA Kit or ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbant assays) Kits in general, are a valuable research tool for a myriad of applications in a range of scientific settings. Currently, three major types of ELISA formats are used by researchers: sandwich, competitive and indirect. Most commercially available ELISA Kits are sandwich or competitive. Commercially available ELISA Kits contain wells that have been pre-coated with the capture antibody. Please refer to the product manual for the ELISA format of your specific kit. The following patways have been known to be associated with this gene. Blood, Bone Marrow, Brain, Connective Tissue, Eye, Ganglia, Liver, Muscle, Nerve, Spinal Cord tissues are correlated with this protein. Brain Diseases, Brain Injuries, Cardiovascular Diseases, Epilepsy, Gliosis, Inflammation, Necrosis, Nerve Degeneration, Nervous System Diseases, Pain are some of the diseases may be linked to Pig Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) ELISA Kit.
