|The COX2 cox2 (Catalog #MBS539703) is an ELISA Kit and is intended for research purposes only. The product is available for immediate purchase. MyBioSource\'s COX2 can be used in a range of immunoassay formats including, but not limited to, ELISA (EIA). Researchers should empirically determine the suitability of the COX2 cox2 for an application not listed in the data sheet. Researchers commonly develop new applications and it is an integral, important part of the investigative research process.
The COX2 cox2 product has the following accession number(s) (GI #568192596) (NCBI Accession #YP_008965371.1). Researchers may be interested in using Bioinformatics databases such as those available at The National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website for more information about accession numbers and the proteins they represent. Even researchers unfamiliar with bioinformatics databases will find the NCBI databases to be quite user friendly and useful.

Principle of the Assay: This kit is a solid phase sandwich ELISA using 2 kinds of high specific antibodies. Tetra Methyl Benzidine (TMB) is used as a coloring agent (Chromogen). The strength of coloring is proportional to the quantities of Hhuman COX-2.
Background: Cyclooxygenase (COX) is a membrane bound enzyme responsible for the oxidation of arachidonic acid to Prostaglandin G2 (PGG2) and the subsequent reduction of PGG2 to PHG2. These reactions are the first steps in the formation of a variety of prostanoids. COX has been shown to be expressed in at least two different isoforms, a constitutively expressed form, COX-1, and an inducible form, COX-2. COX-1 is thought to regulate a number of housekeeping functions, such as vascular hemostasis, renal blood flow, and maintenance of glomerular function. Inflammation mediators such as growth factors, cytokines and endotoxin induce COX-2 expression in a number of cellular systems.
Assay Type: Sandwich
Detection Range: 1.09 ? 70 ng/mL
Sensitivity: 0.25 ng/mL. COX2 ELISA Kit or ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbant assays) Kits in general, are a valuable research tool for a myriad of applications in a range of scientific settings. Currently, three major types of ELISA formats are used by researchers: sandwich, competitive and indirect. Most commercially available ELISA Kits are sandwich or competitive. Commercially available ELISA Kits contain wells that have been pre-coated with the capture antibody. Please refer to the product manual for the ELISA format of your specific kit.
